About this position
The Project Coordinator (Field Engineer) position provides an opportunity to experience field construction activities first hand in support of the field operations team. The objective is to provide technical oversight, documentation, technical support/testing/inspection at the field level. This role includes significant travel to multiple sites to ensure proper technical records and contractual records are being maintained at all times. The Project Coordinator (Field Engineer) is responsible for early warning of quality control errors non-conformance issues and or opportunities for advancement of solutions on site.
The role is responsible for supporting the data gathering and submission of all traceable material from the field operations; and, works collaboratively with the field supervisors, engineers and sub-contractors (survey, NDE etc.) to meet data requirements, validate documentation and sustain ISO principles and programs.
Key Accountabilities
- Work closely with Project Management and the Field operations team to plan, manage, and execute field work
- Complete field logs, load testing and other field based reporting
- Communication field instructions, change of conditions notice, and change notices
- Support the QA/QC team, Estimating, Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, and Installation to meet deadlines and maintain high level of organization and productivity
- Supports a strong culture of quality through the communication, metrics and processes delivered and implemented
- Prepares and maintains documentation to ensure compliance within quality program standards and certification requirements Performs initial project setup to accommodate and fulfill customer requirements
- Develops Inspection and Test Plans;
- Understands the customers and their quality requirements (i.e. Quality Plans, ITP and Turnover) in conjunction with Almita’s QMS
- Gathers all product data from the field staff (Construction Manager or Field Supervisor) and reviews it for accuracy
- Verifies installation data against engineered drawings, schedules as well as subcontractor supplied documents to ensure compliance
- Liaises with client survey, QA/QC personnel and other departments
- Reviews survey data and communicate with engineering for approval of out of tolerance piles, low torque, low embedment etc.
- Assists with NDE coordination, requests and management of data for all welding on site
- Assemble turnover packages;
- Liaises with employees on quality matters and ensures that employee initiated NCR’s are investigated and communicated to the QA/QC Manager
- Verifies that corrective actions are implemented and that the results are adequate and effective
- Interacts with organizational departments in a professional manner
- Document Control activities as required
- Other duties as assigned
Education / Experience
The following are required:
- BS Degree in Civil Engineering
- 1-3 years experience on construction sites or in the field
Previous history of employment/co-op within the engineering and/or construction environment as a Field Engineer and/or Project Coordinator - Knowledge of the screw pile industry, including products and installation equipment
- Clear understanding of blueprint reading
- Intermediate report writing experience
- Good records and information management keeping
- Utilizes problem solving skills to overcome an issue
- Sound technical knowledge
- Detail oriented
- Basic understanding of commercial impacts
- Clear communication and ability to work in as part of a team
- Good time management
- Class G License
